What is "Chia"?

Chia is a seed that is a whole grain packed with nutrition!

GLUTEN FREE: an amazing source of nutrients for celiacs!

"Chia" means strength. SALVIA HISPANICA L. is the botanical name.
It is an ancient grain that has been used by Aztec, Mayan and Incan people since 3500 BC.
It is mostly grown in Mexico, Bolivia, Argentina, Ecuador, Guatemala
and Australia.

Chia seeds were used by ancient cultures.
The Aztec Warriors would carry a sack of seeds and
a gourd of water for their daily journey for the entire day's worth of nutrition.

The Chia seed holds 9-14 times its weight in water, it helps with hydration.
Today, athletes use chia to keep their electrolytes up when perspiring
thus increasing endurance.

CHIA (gram for gram) has more antioxidant than blueberries! High in calcium, potassium and iron! Higher efficiency of omega 3's fatty acids than fish oil, flax and algae!

Chia Seeds are also a good source of B vitamins, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, boron, and copper.

And, chia is all natural and mild tasting.

Milled Chia looks like a fine black pepper and can be sprinkled on any food.  Only approx 2 tablespoons or 15 grams is needed to reep benefits.

Why Eat Chia?

High in Omega 3's as in
SALMON

High in Protein

More Antioxidant strength than BLUEBERRIES

High in Calcium  plus the mineral BORON which helps distribute calcium into yours bones.

High in Potassium

Has good source of Iron

Provides Magnesium  as in BROCCOLI.

A COMPLETE SOURCE OF PROTEIN.

GREAT SOURCE OF Soluble FIBER.  Like Flax, chia is highly hydrophilic.  The seeds absorb water and create a mucilaginous gel.  Supports digestive health.  When the chia seeds gel and move through the intestinal tract, it helps eliminate waste and cleanses the colon naturally.

CHIA VS FLAX

Salvia Hispanica L. is FDA approved as food source like rice, wheat, oats, etc.

Unlike FLAX that is not FDA approved & illegal in some countries.

The US government regulates flax consumption to no more than 12% of your total caloric intake.   Flax contains vitamin B interrupters that can cause malnutrition.  Flax seed cyanogens convert into cyanide, a poison that can be life threatening. Omega 3 Chia is considered a whole food source and is not limited to how much can be consumed daily.

  • Omega 3 Chia has protein, calcium, antioxidants and the highest natural source of Omega 3's.
